KARRI Fitness Contest

The event took place on 26th December 2023 at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute. It began at around 10 am and ran up to 5 pm. This was our very first GFF event in Kenya and we had a total of 26 participants who did the GFF standard routine. 15 men, 8 women and 3 children. We got a GFF time of 2:55 from Kelvin Kairu who became the GFF ambassador for Kenya. This was the best GFF time world wide, at that point.

We have had a total of 2 GFF events held in Egerton university.

The first event was held on 3rd February 2024. It ran from 9 AM to 4 PM. We had a total of 44 participants with 26 of them being men and 18 women. We did the GFF standard modified routine and the best guy got a GFF time of 2:11 while the best lady got a GFF time of 3:12. Kelvin’s record was broken.

The second event was held on 16th September 2024. For the first time, live display system was successfully tested. The event attracted a total of 90 participants performing GFF standard and modified exclusively for ladies unable to do standard pushups. Magnus Marlan(a rugby player) emerged best overall with a score of 1 minute and 3 seconds. Susan Namalwa topped the ladies with a score of 1 minute 15 seconds.

Kabarak University

The Global Fast Fit team in Kenya held an event on 22nd March 2024. The event was held at Kabarak University main campus, from 9 AM to 7 PM. We registered 106, screened 100 and had 72 people actually do the contest. 51 men and 21 ladies. Anita, who is now our mascot, attempted to do the GFF standard routine for the first time and did 30 push ups, 30 squats, 30 leg lifts and a 0.25 km run in 2:29 minutes.We had a rugby team member participate in the challenge. Maxwell Atems did the challenge and attained a time of 2:28 minutes. He asked for feedback from the team about his performance and was informed that he needed to work on his form while doing the exercise. He asked to attempt the challenge again at the end of the event and did the challenge for a second time in 2:39 seconds with better form. He held the world record for GFF standard.

Mt. longonot hike

The event took place on Saturday 5th October 2024. The whole GFF team from Kenya set out to conquer the Longonot trail. It was tough but everyone successfully submitted the mountain led by 4 year old Anita. The team started off with their trademark GFF pro routine before ascending the 2776 meters mountain.

Menengai hike

Menengai crater hike was done on 23rd November 2024. The hike lasted 5 hours to cover a distance of 14 kms. The hike was done by the club members of Egerton club. The weather conditions are very hot and the terrain is steep with rocky trails making navigation quite slow. The views are panoramic with the surrounding forest and mountains quite breathtaking.

Eburu forest hike

The event was held on 1st February 2025 by the Winsim club. A total of 26 hikers from the GFF Kenya team and the Winsim club in Njoro took up the challenging hike. We covered a total of 14 kms. The hike began at 11 am and ended at 2:30 pm. We did the GFF standard routine at 2900 m with a stunning view. Anita proved to be quite the hiker. According to a smartwatch, we did 23,879 steps.

Egerton run for mau

The 10th annual Run for Mau was held on March 1, 2025, at Egerton University’s main sports field. This cross-country event aimed to support conservation efforts for Mau Forest while bringing together athletes, corporate teams, and the community for a day of competitive and fun-filled racing. The event commenced at 9:00 AM and concluded at 5:00 PM, featuring multiple race categories designed for different participant groups.

Race Categories

  • 4 km race – Primary and comprehensive schools
  • 4 km race – Egerton staff members
  • 2 km race – Community members over 55 years old
  • 2 km race – Egerton staff members over 55 years old
  • 10 km race – Egerton students
  • 10 km race – Other university students
  • 6 km race – Junior women (under 20 years)
  • 8 km race – Junior men (under 20 years)
  • 10 km race – Senior women (over 20 years)
  • 10 km race – Senior men (over 20 years)
  • 1 km race – CEOs and Alumni
  • 4 km race – Corporate teams

Global Fast Fit (GFF) Participation The GFF team arrived at the venue at 9:00 AM and assembled a diverse group of participants from different clubs and organizations:

  • 12 GFF employees (including Anita and Esther)
  • 3 participants from Kabarak Club
  • 7 from Winsim Club
  • 17 from Egerton Club
  • 1 community member

The team registered under the corporate category, bringing the total corporate athlete count to approximately 120. After registration, the team warmed up and prepared for the races.

Race Highlights The event kicked off with a 1 km CEO race, where company representatives competed. GFF Kenya’s team manager, James Muchiri, dominated this race, taking an early lead alongside a Major General from Kenya Defense University and a manager from Blue Line Security. In the final 100 meters, James unleashed a signature GFF sprint finish, securing first place and leaving his competitors behind.

The 4 km corporate race followed. The race conditions were challenging due to the intense heat, but well-placed water stations helped keep the athletes hydrated. The course included obstacles such as a muddy patch, hay bales (1/2 meter high), and 2 ditches (1/2 meters wide) that tested endurance and agility.

To manage the large number of participants, the ladies were flagged off first, followed by the men a few minutes later. The GFF gentlemen executed the Global Fast Fit Standard routine before joining the rest of the race. One of the GFF ladies finished first, while the top GFF gentleman finished in 8th place overall.

Ol-kalou national scrabble championship

The event took place on 9th November 2024 in Ol-kalou, 818 hotel. Over 100 scrabble players battled it out in various categories. GFF came in handy with providing merchandise and testing fitness levels of the players. Live display was also a notable feature in the event. Gitonga Nderitu emerged victorious in the elite category. Kenya’s general manger Dr. James was also a participant in the intermediate category which was won by Gachomo. The GFF team was also present in the event, fully branded.

Renovation of winsim gym

Winsim is owned by Simon Mucheru, a fitness trainer based in Njoro. Simon is also the manager of GFF Winsim club. Renovations of the gym commenced on 5th April 2024 and were conducted by the GFF team. The gym was repainted with GFF colours and the interior was also upgraded.

Lisam academy is where GFF’s mascot Anita studies. The project commenced on 20th August 2024, fully sponsored by John Groom. Activities included; repainting, cleaning the compound, renovation of swings and branding. All activities were carried out by the gff team.

The Riverside Global Fast Fit (GFF) Club was founded as a mentorship program for thirteen boys, united by the goal of improving their lives through fitness and discipline. What began as a small circle of peers working out together has grown into a vibrant movement of over 30 committed members, all dedicated to spreading the fitness gospel across Nyandarua County.

Rooted in brotherhood, consistency, and purpose, Riverside GFF is more than just a fitness group—it’s a youth-led force for positive change. The club members regularly train using the Global Fast Fit regimen and act as community role models, promoting healthy living in schools, churches, and public events. Their influence continues to ripple through the county, inspiring many to embrace wellness and resilience.

Today, the Riverside GFF Club stands as a powerful example of how structured fitness, peer mentorship, and a shared mission can transform not only individuals—but entire communities.

 

Meet our Team

Dedicated to your journey

James Muchiri

Dr. James Muchiri is a medical officer and the public health lead at Global Fast Fit, where he champions initiatives to prevent lifestyle-related diseases—particularly Type 2 Diabetes—through structured fitness programs and community engagement. His passion for this cause stems from childhood conversations with his favorite aunt, who lived with diabetes and planted in him the importance of prevention through lifestyle.

James is a serial hobbyist and fitness enthusiast whose eclectic journey includes playing rugby for Eldoret RFC up to Kenya Cup level, earning a bronze medal in Scrabble at the East Africa Inter-University Games, and dabbling in chess, badminton, cycling, and table tennis. He also taught English at Anestar Secondary School and Kite Secondary School, and was once a top-rated writer on Upwork.com.

A proud Land Rover Defender owner, James is a self-taught mechanic thanks to years of hands-on learning—wisdom passed down from his father, who introduced him to the intricacies of Land Rover maintenance.

Whether he’s designing a wellness campaign, leading a fitness challenge, or fine-tuning a vehicle in his backyard, James brings relentless curiosity and authentic passion to everything he does.

Andrew Muchiri

Andrew Muchiri, better known as Zugu, is the creative engine powering the visual identity of Global Fast Fit. A graduate of Moi University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Andrew further honed his professional edge with a Postgraduate Diploma in Customs from the Kenya Revenue Authority.

As the official videographer and photographer for GFF, Zugu turns every fitness session, contest, and transformation story into lasting impact. His lens captures more than motion — it captures meaning, legacy, and the human spirit behind every GFF achievement.

Beyond the camera, Zugu is also a certified GFF athlete with a score of 1:28. With a height of 173 cm, weight of 68 kg, and waist size 32, he proves that storytelling and sweat go hand in hand.

Zugu isn’t just documenting the journey — he’s living it. And for him, this is just the beginning.

Meshack Simiyu

Meshack Simiyu, popularly known as Metro, is a dynamic blend of discipline, passion, and leadership. A graduate of Kabarak University with a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature (Class of 2024), Meshack is a professional table tennis player who has proudly represented Kenya at national level.

Beyond the court, he is an inspiring educator and a skilled coach, currently serving as the head of the Global Fast Fit Nomads — a traveling team of fitness ambassadors promoting wellness and structured exercise across Kenya. Metro’s leadership is defined by his ability to ignite both physical and mental transformation in the communities he touches.

With a heart for teaching and a passion for movement, he continues to shape a new generation of athletes, scholars, and everyday warriors — one push-up and one lesson at a time.

Clinton Kavai

Clinton Kavai, fondly known as CK, is a GFF phenomenon and the current world record holder in the GFF Standard routine, clocking an astonishing 1:03. A student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at RVIST, Clinton balances academic rigor with an unrelenting passion for fitness.

He dreams of one day becoming a sprinter or bodybuilder, and it shows in both his discipline and form. Clinton is instantly recognizable for his trademark sprinting style—a graceful, almost effortless lope that mirrors a gazelle in full stride. It’s not just how fast he moves, but how fluidly he glides that makes him a crowd favorite and a constant source of motivation in the GFF community.

Simon Muchiri

A procurement and logistics officer by training who found his passion in Automotive engineering and physical fitness. He is a believer in exercise as a remedy for mental health problems as he advocated for people to try the exercise or fitness training way when they start to feel moody, lonely or anxious.

Kelvin Kairu

Kairu is the very first GFF world record holder. He played rugby on campus and began his love affair with exercise and fitness. He never stopped working out ever since. He noticed that it gave him good mental and physical health. He now trains the pre school kids of Lisam primary school on how to make exercise among their first languages.

Simon Mucheru

Popularly known as Kasisi which is cardinal in swahili. This is because of his deep faith in exercise and physical fitness. He is an embodiment of endurance by overcoming a hip fracture and regaining full use and control of his leg after the accident in just under 2 years. He runs a gym and the Winsim club. He is a water technician by profession and got hit by a bull while reading a water meter! That is how he fractured his hip.

Abigael Rotich

Affectionately known as Abby, Abigael Cheruto is the warm-hearted and detail-driven Treasurer of Global Fast Fit CBO. A woman of deep intellect and quiet strength, she blends creativity, precision, and compassion in all she does.

A proud graduate of Kabarak University, Abby earned the distinguished honor of being the Valedictorian of the School of Health Sciences, a reflection of her academic brilliance and unrelenting discipline. Prior to that, she attended Moi Forces Academy Lanet, where her love for art, design, and home science was nurtured. Her cooking skills were forged under the watchful eye of her inspiring home science teacher, and her entrepreneurial spirit emerged early—her first customer for a handmade bag was none other than John Groom, the Founder of the Global Fast Fit movement.

Today, Abby continues to lead with excellence and grace. Whether she’s managing budgets, inspiring fellow club members, or simply stitching together moments of joy (quite literally), she carries with her the kind of calm, confident leadership that defines the spirit of GFF.

Her trademark smile isn’t just warm—it’s contagious.

John Nderitu

Popularly known as Johnny, he is a quiet guy with an impressive GFF pro score of 1:07. He is an automotive engineer by training and the club manager for Egerton club. He is all about less talk and more action.

Anita Wambui

Anita is a vibrant 5 year old with remarkable passion for fitness. She demonstrates a natural love for staying active and trying new things. Her dedication for joy and movement make her an inspiring role model for both the young and old.
